Staff Reports APPLE VALLEY — A 30-year-old transient was caught driving a stolen vehicle while in the drive-thru line at a Del Taco, authorities said. San Bernardino County Sheriff's Apple Valley Station Deputy Jared Sacapano was patrolling a parking lot in the 12200 block of Apple Valley Road at 11:45 p.m. Monday when he saw a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado stopped in the drive-thru at Del Taco.

Deputy Sacapano ran the license plate of the Silverado and learned the vehicle was reported stolen out of Barstow, according to authorities. Deputy Sacapano stopped the vehicle and found that the driver, identified as Jeremy Byrd, had an active warrant for driving with a suspended driver's license, authorities said. Byrd was arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle and having an outstanding warrant. He was booked at the High Desert Detention Center in lieu of $55,000 bail.
